The first few days at home

After what seemed like a 2 minute hospital stay, we headed home. Bless my mom's heart for keeping Hudson and Lillian... I know 2 straight days wore her out. And sweet Emily for helping so Kiki could be at the hospital to love on Barnes, too.

When we left the hospital, Barnes weighed 7 lbs 5 oz and his bilirubin levels were elevated. All the Lindley babies have had difficulty with that stupid bilirubin. So we scheduled a check for 2 days.

When we got home, it was full speed ahead with life... Like we hadn't missed a beat. Except this time, we had another tiny human to take care of.
Hudson was so excited to see his "baby barnes". He still calls him this and it melts my heart every single time.

Already telling brother secrets

I kind of posted up on the couch for a few days so I could recover and spend some good bonding time with the new babe. Sweet Joey and my parents took the lead with the big kids... And that is such a blessing.
Who does this angel look like?? We are still asking ourselves that.

Sissy was super curious of him and finally got up the courage to sneak some kisses.

I had this grand plan of getting a shot of all of us in the hospital and When we got home. But it just didn't happen. It's an act of congress for everyone to look at the camera these days.... Including my photo dodging husband.

For his bilirubin check on Monday, Barnes weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. One oz away from birthweight! Yah Barnes and yah for breastfeeding! But his bili levels were still elevated, so we had to go back on Tuesday. And thank goodness, they were trending down.

I mean, look at these cheeks. I've never had a chubby cheek baby! I told Johna the other day that he photographs chubby. Ha! He's definitely has some cheeks, but the rest of him is pretty lanky.

That week was my first time at home with all three littles. It was only for a few hours, but still serious business! But we survived!
It's been a blessing that the bigs can both go to school 2 days a week and Hudson can go everyday.

Sissy is in a total climbing phase. We can't turn our back for literally one second without her into something. It's exhausting!

Jamie also came to visit that week. My best friend had her Cooper two weeks before Barnes was born. It is so special that we get to share this special time together! And we get to text in the middle of the night.

This biggest difficulty has been trying to figure out how to spend time with each of my babies so they each feel loved. Barnes loves to be held and he gets his best rest when he's on me. And I know he's our last baby, so I really don't want to put him down 😁

But I remember that Sissy is still a baby herself, and she needs her mommy cuddles too. And her open mouth kisses add just the best! She tends to get alittle jealous at times. Bless her.

And that pretty much summed up our first week. I didn't drive bc I was still trying to recover, so my mom and Joey basically toted us around. Can't say I didn't love it. Barnes was still in the newborn sleepy phase, so he just rolled with it.
Life with three is wonderful and exhausting... All at the same time. But God sure knew what he was doing! couldn't imagine life without our new addition!
