letter to the editor: BB style

Dear Belly Button (bb for short),
You are now flat on my stomach. How did this happen? I have been bragging about you for 9 months, and I look down last night....flatness! I mean, really? I've got 2 weeks left and you decide to go ahead and shift on me. And don't get me started on my skanky belly button piercing hole. That thing looks weird, too! And yes, I had my button pierced. TWICE! Beat that! So that hole is stuck with me forever. But you, BB, you have let me down. And I'm not sure which is worse...Having an outie or stuck in limbo with his middle-ie flatness? Make up your mind! Will you go back in after this child is born? Will my body ever be the same? I guess that definitely is the bigger question here.

Other ways my body is turning on me:
-my ankles are a slight cankle these days
-my toes look rounder and reminiscent of little sausages
my lung capacity has left the building
-my butt! we won't even go into the size of that thing
-this round, chubby face. you've seen the pictures. don't even try to deny it
-The general downward direction everything is has slightly shifted....I won't elaborate any further

So to you, belly button, thanks for sticking it out with me. Get it, stick it OUT? I am funny!
Shape up, body! We've got a long life together...and it is far too early for the nips and tucks I have planned for our future!

Love,
Kristin (and Hudson)

disclaimer: this is a total joke. Hudson is totally worth all this, but I really do find it ironic that that BB takes a turn on the last 2 weeks of this process. He is worth all this body changing!
And no, I am not only slightly vain

Hudson's nursery

Hudson's nursery is finally finished!
Yeh! and I love love it!

This is a SWEET baby boy's room, ok? I know going into this that in 2 years, we will have to change things to trucks or spiders or whatever little boys like. But for now, he can be my sweet boy in his sweet room with his smocked outfits on. Don't judge me.

Picture from the doorway

Another view.
Antique dresser and mirror that I just happened to have in another bedroom. It matched perfectly!

Changing table and drapes we had made

Up close of picture above the changing table, sweet baby elephant.
This was made by my friend, Paige.
And it matched PERFECTLY!
His monogram is on his blanket

Glider/ottoman and his "reading nook"
Pillow to match bedding

Another view of the room. Notice the light fixture...
The shades are the same fabric as the bedding.
Yeh, I went there.

Ok, another thing: look at the accent wall with the stripes. This was done by my husband!
He did an amazing job with the taping and painting!
And bless him for being so patient, because that taping is a serious job!

Up close of his sweet banner and shelfing we had made. All the woodwork and crib look similiar with that antique off-white style

His closet with some of the clothes and jammed packed at the top.
More clothes are currently being washed/hung...and we have other items strategically hidden around the house. What are we going to do when he actually comes and his stuff starts to grow?

Monogrammed basket Kiki got. Love this! This will end up in our living room to store all his toys.
Currently storing feeding things like bottles, rackes, liners, etc

Sweet door hanger Casey got for us.
Matches perfectly.

An up close shot of his bedding. "Central Park Horizon" (baby blue toille) and "Pinstripe Natural"
Designed by ME :)
And notice that "L" in the background on his bedding.
(and you can also comment on my fancy camera skills with the fadding in the background)

Riley wanted to have her picture taken. She is ready for baby Hudson, too!

Again, I love this room. And if you don't like it, don't tell me you don't like it. Because I am so happy with it!

After we found out it was a sweet baby boy, I knew immediately what I envisioned for this space. But it took awhile for it to come to life.

Many, many thanks to Joey for being so patient with me. And for letting me have full control (he knows me all too well) Bless his bones.
Also, Kiki (my mom) and Tara Pattie. They got countless phone calls, picture texts, and forcing to come over to look at different options...I can be slightly neurotic at times. Shocking!
Bless their bones.
Lots of bone blessings going on!

Have a great day!

little love

Look at this little angel, Carson Shive

And he's a model, too! He's wearing one of my sewing projects.
Now, I know that the "C" is as big as his sweet head...this was my first time with an applique.
But he wears it very well!
We love you, Carson!

And rumor has it, that this little boy is getting more sleep in the night.
I've been telling Jess to take notes on all this baby stuff....I'm feeling like we will need all the advice we can get in a few weeks.
True story: I didn't know pacifiers came in different sizes until last week. Before you judge me as a soon-to-be mother, how in the world would I have know that? They don't sell those things at Forever21!

37 weeks today!
Nursery post coming up next!

exciting times!

Since I plan to turn this little blog into a book at the end of the year, I thought I'd share some recent developments.
Really, only 2 developments.

First, we got into the daycare we wanted! Yeh! Now, I know this is not that important to you...but in Hudson's world, he is excited!

Second, went to the doctor yesterday. This was the "checking" appointment. If you have been pregnant, you know which one I'm speaking of. And the first time you get checked, it will get you! Joey was sweet and held my hand.
So at 36 weeks, I am 1 cm dialated and 50% effaced. Is that too much info for you? Well I am. And he is head down! In baby delivery world, that is great news. For this decreases my chances of having a c-section.
Joey's next question: "Do you think she'll make it to October 10th?"
MD: "No, I don't. I don't think she's going into labor tomorrow, but I don't think it will be another 3.5 weeks"
Kristin: "Yikes!!!"

Don't get me wrong, I am so excited about meeting the sweet little alien that has invaded my body for the last 9 months....I dream about his face. But this delivery thing has got me kinda freaked out. REALLY freaking out. But we are ready!

So here I am, just sitting pretty big waiting on him to come. And before you give me the "I was at 1cm for 3 weeks lecture..." I know!  I only have 3 weeks to go regardless. But I guess this appointment just mentally got me.

So this weekend, I am getting my last prenatal massage and relaxing. Fun times.
Have a great weekend!

the list

So here we are, people.... I'm 9 months pregnant.
And with being 9 months pregnant means you get to enjoy joys such as not sleeping.
So I thought I'd give you a run-down of things I've been thinking about at 3:00 AM (while my husband snoozes away, might I add)

Disclaimer: some of these things are so random...

1-20: things involving Hudson Lindley.
(I won't bore you with all that stuff)
21: The other night I dreamed that Natalie Portman wanted me to be in a relationship with her. True story. Of course, I turned her down, but she did put up a compelling argument.
22: I am bringing food to a friend who just had a baby, and how cute it would be for his name to be spelled out in pepperoni.
23: What is Riley Lindley, our lab, doing right now. So I proceed to get up and find her....she is happy to see me.
24: If I look just right into the doorway of my bedroom, I can see clear across the house.
25: We have lamps that are on timers, and I like to guess the exact time it is based on when the lamps went out.
26: The things that I need to cross of my to-do list this week
27: If I want to get a massage and pedicure this weekend, or just the massage. And what areas I want her to focus on. And then I start craving some of that cucumber water at Aqua. Yummo!
28: What would it look like if I tried to put on my old skinny jeans. Will they ever fit again?
29: What size is my child going to be? Is he the size of a small toddler?
30: I tried to hop on one foot yesterday at work...and it was nearly impossible!
31: What I want to get my sweet husband for his birth at the end of october....other than the greatest gift of all. i've been making that one for 9 months now.
32: How it might not have been the best idea to slide down the blow-up jumpy slide on saturday...climbing up that thing was hard, but the ride down was really fun!
33: I continue to say prayers for all these sweet babies and new mommies surrounding us!

Random post this Tuesday morning. Have a good one!

over it.

I am kinda over it...
This whole pregnancy thing.

I know this whole time, I've been in dreamy pregnancy land. I love being a preg this, and I love being a preg that. But let me tell you, times have gotten hard. My body is shutting down on me.
Here we are, 4 weeks from the due date, and I am struggling.
And this is just a complaining post...I really want Hudson to stay in there for 4 more weeks, but today is just a hard day.
Braxton and Hicks are beating on my door, my scrubs are getting alittle too tight, and because of the anterior belly, my back is killing me.
"Boo freakin hoo, suck it up pregs." (I bet that's what you're thinking)

I would say I just want to cuddle up in the bed, but even the bed can't give my comfort at this time.
So for now. I need a coke icee, some good TV, and someone to rub on me. And I'm talking to you, Josie!

We are LITERALLY counting down the days, sweet boy! I know you are totally worth it!

labor day weekend

Labor Day Weekend
aka, MY BIRTHDAY.

Although the rain tried to bring us down, we ended up having a fabulous, relaxing weekend.
Literally, it rained ALL weekend. And it was not the pretty kind of rain, but a slow drizzle that makes your hair frizzy.
Imagine me: Almost whale status nine months pregnant, swollen feet (this is a new trick my body is doing), and frizzy hair....such a sight!

Friday night, we went to Georgia Blue with the Patties. That Adda Laine is so so sweet. And she totally recognizes me now! She knows her Kiki.
Saturday morning, I was awoken (is that a word) by my friendly fedex man with a special surprise from Josie...

No words to describe my excitement when I saw this special box!
Oh no he did-n't! But yes he did!
Sadly, no picture with the actual purse bc it was a rough preggie looking day

Next, Trish brought over lots of goodies with this little treat.
DQ cookie dough ice cream cake...yeah, you heard it right!
In the words of Joey Lindley, this cake is "stupid good!"

So saturday was spend walking around the house with new purse and stuffing my face with ice cream cake.
New louis didn't make his outside appearance with all this rain...his hair might get frizzy, too!

Sunday (actual day of birth): still rainy. But we got out and went to see The Help.
Such a good movie...sobbed my eyes out. I knew it was not a good sign when I saw a preview about this horse. Now, he was running for his life from something and I lost it. And when I saw him limp, the tears were never-ending. Dang that limping horse!
So the actual movie was spent laughing, crying, and spotting my celebrity BFF Sloane Porter Fair in the movie. I screamed every time I saw her...So now I am a sobbing mess and a screamer. Fun times.

We had a fun lakehouse day planned for Sunday, but of course, that rain got us.
We cooked out at my parents, instead.

Yesterday was spent lazily, too. Shocker. We went to walmart. Notice how I said we? There is no I  in walmart, anymore. And I took a two hour nap. Loves it!

So while my friends were spending time at the beach (not visiting the sand) and at various football games, I was napping, crying, eating, and walking around in a robe and my new LV. Oh yeah, all this was done with frizzy hair.

Couldn't have imagined a better birthday for this season in my life.

4.5 weeks until Hudson comes.
Nursery is almost done. Waiting for light fixture to come in and finding a lamp for table. Maybe by the end of next week....and then blog post all about the nursery. I actually have had several people ask about this.
Work shower is tomorrow. Get excited!

Apparently one of the inside jokes from the phi mu beach trip is "blessed", so I won't use that word.
But I am definitely feeling thankful.

Holla!

Shower fun-ness!

Last weekend, we got to celebrate the union of Alyssa and Lewis by throwing her a bridal shower.
It was held at Merry Claire's fabulous house and everything was perfect!!

That pretty bride to be!

The bride and the hostesses
Kristen, pregs, Alyssa, MC, and Laini

The cutest gift...a hanger with her new name
"Mrs. Bradford"

The bride and her sisters and soon to be sister in law

Work BFFs. Love her!
And let me add, the heart picture thing is a total joke. I hate when people do that! It totally goobs me out.

Up next, Hudson's couples shower.
Held at the Zach and Tara's house.

This was the fabulous corsage that Lacey's mom made. Look how cute this thing is!
The little animal comes off as a Christmas ornament and the flowers are really socks.
I think corsages are not used enough. If I had it my way, I would wear one for EVERY life event.
Can we find one that matches the ug hospital gown?

The baby carriage fruit stuff. Johna made this....so proud of her!

Our best friends. What in the world would we do without these people?
Love them all so much!
The Patties, The Adams, The Shandys, The Lindleys (plus little baby), The Moores

Love these women!

Cupcakes that Tara made...they were so so good!

Me and Hudson.
Of course I love him!
33 weeks 6 days

Sadly, I did not get a picture of me and Josie! He continues to hide from the camera these days....I told him to live it up. Because once this child comes, I will be on him like white on rice. Paparazzi style!

Again, we are so blessed to have so many people that love us and want to celebrate little Hudson Lindley.
I literally want to cry on a daily basis thinking about what everyone has done for us!

We got so many great things at this shower...things we really needed! And now, I can breathe alittle easier.
Well really in a figurative sense, I literally am breathing a little harder these days bc of the decreased lung capacity. But Figuratively, I am taking in LOTS of oxygen after this shower!
