weekend update

Ok, let's try this post again...

Last weekend was Taste of UMC.
Its a fundraiser for the hospital and it is so much fun! And you know I love an excuse to play dress up.
This year, our theme was Rehab Round-up. We had to defend our "best presentation" title, so we really needed step up our game.
You can check out the post about last year's even here
Its a great time to visit with your coworkers (who also happen to be my friends) outside of the work environment AND stuff your face with good food!

Me and Alyssa. Best dressed cowgirls

I roped me a good looking man!
Josie was wearing our sticker to support, but he doesn't get down with dressing up

Doing the cowgirl lean

Our whole crew. Lots of fun cowpeople
And best presentation winners...second year in a row!

And did you notice my shirt? Its a bona-fide western shirt from Boot and More. No city girl here!
Thanks Liz for letting me borrow this gem.
I'd also like to point out that this was Hudson's first time to spend the night with Kiki. His first slumbar party!
It was time, I guess. And all new parents need some adult time in their life...or that's what I keep telling myself. Ha!

On Friday night, we visited my BFF jamie's new house. We are so excited that her and Justin are living closer. And it is decorated so cute!!
Hudson's first party...He did two keg stands to celebrate. Kidding....he only did one.

Nene, Hudson, and me

Have a great rest of the week!

Yummy!

Hello there! Quick question this Friday morning. Where has the time gone? Hudson Lindley will be 5 months next week. How is this possible?

On Monday we started feeding Hudson rice cereal. And boy did he like it! I knew we were getting ready for solids and he was starting to show the signs: eyeing our food and acting hungry all time. And the biggest signal, he would open his mouth like a baby bird when you would put anything close to his mouth. Bless him, he was hungry.

He took it down like a champ! That boy was straight up hungry!

That face cracks me up!

And for your viewing pleasure, his first cereal experience. Notice how he attacks the spoon.

And please notice Joey telling me to slow down... But he would get fussy if I didn't get it in his mouth... FAST!

Love this little boy with all my heart.

Malachi

Meet this sweet couple

Lee and Abby
They are nice. They are cute. They are a Godly couple

Now meet this little man

Miller, their handsome son.
He is 7 months old and looks just like his daddy.

Don't you just love them already?
Well, I'll give you one more reason to love them..... They are adopting from Africa. Yep, Africa and Ethiopia to be exact.
They are looking to expand their family with a sweet baby boy...a boy named Malachi.
They are going to OUTLIVE their life and bring this sweet baby boy home. And they need our help!

You can read all about Abby and Lee  and their amazing story here
Their story is truely inspiring. God does wonderous things in us, and He is calling them to adopt.
So adopt, they will!

To help them raise money, they will be doing various fundraisers to bring sweet Malachi home and here is the first:

Isn't she a beauty?!? I love that distressed look!
You can head on over to their blog, leeandabby.blogspot.com and bid. The last day to bid is February 27th.
You know you want to.
I already did, and I was already outbid...TWICE!

Ya'll, they felt a "Holy Discontent" and that led them to this adoption process...and you can't argue with God. So let's make it our mission to get them there!

And if this piece is not for you, don't fret your pretty head. There will be other opportunities to help this amazing couple!

Happy bidding and Happy Thursday!

Lent

Lent is the season of penance and prayer before Easter.
Lent begins today with Ash Wednesday.

It is customary for Catholics (and some non-Catholics) to "give up" something for Lent.
I have been doing this since I was a little girl.
I always try to give up something I really enjoy...and that usually involves food.
Last year, this chubby girl was pregnant and giving up any kind of food wasn't an option for me.
So I decided to pray more and do one nice thing for someone a day.

This year, I have decided to abstain from candy.
And after this morning talking with Alicia, I am also giving up cursing.
Candy and Cursing.
Ha!
Now don't get me wrong, I don't have a potty mouth. But every once in awhile, I'll let one fly out...and it's very unlady-like.

I have also decided that praying and doing nice things for people are a year-around type of thing...I need to do that EVERY day of the year.
But I am adding that to my Lent list, too!

It is so important to remember what Christ did for us.
HE died so we can LIVE!

What are you giving up for Lenten season?

blog book

I just remembered I never told y'all (or you, for my ONE reader) about my blog book I got printed from my 2011 posts.

I am so happy with the way it turned out! I especially loved last year's blog because it documented the pregnancy and Hudson's first 3 months.

It will be such a fun thing for Hudson to look back on one day.
And read the blog where I used to be funny... Speaking of, I think I lost my funny or it's currently on hiatus?!? Who knows!

So all your lovies head over to blog2print.com and print out your blog too!

JF Warren

I want y'all to meet one of Hudson's best friends...

Mr. John Franklin Warren came into this world on January 26th weighing a whopping 5 lbs 12 oz. Bless his little bones!

His mom, Amy Grace, has been one of my bffs for a long time! She was my little sis in the sorority and I've loved her ever since.

Look at that sweet mommy and baby

Daddy's so proud of his little man!

And tonight, me and Hudson got to spend some time with the new Warren family, party of 3.

Collabone BFFs and mini bffs

Me and that little JF. He is such a small tot!

Pounding it out. I see a bromance in their future! But right now, John Franklin just wanted to snooze

Gracie, I'm so glad you are in the new mommy club! Such a wonderful and exhausting time. I can't wait to watch these baby boys grow with you! Love you!

4:00 am daze

So, Hudson has been doing this thing lately where he wakes up at the 3:00-4:00 am hour and fusses a bit. He always goes back to sleep very quickly, but it is just quite annoying.

The boy is not hungry and he doesn't do it every night, so I assume it's just habit. The funny thing is, it always happens on Sunday night. Fun times, Hudson.

Well it did happen last night. 4:22 am. He cried for 2.5 seconds and straight back to sleep. Maybe a nightmare? And since he's been doing this intermittently lately, I don't really sleep well because I'm anticipating it.

So last night I would wake up every 30 minutes thinking I was hearing this whimpering. That angel baby was having bad dreams? I'd sit straight up and look at the monitor (we have video and the angel monitor) but Hudson would be totally still. Sleeping so soundly.

So what was this? Was I dreaming it?

After that happened 832 times, I finally figured out what it was... Josie was snoring and making a slight whistle in that snore. Really Josie? He has been sick lately (more on that later), and it's taken a toll on his sleeping. The boy has a small snore normally, but right now he is straight up "sawing logs"- Isn't that the saying?

I've read that 4 months is a hard month for sleep. But what about the 29th year for Joey?

Either way, the 4:22 am fuss time and the snoring to high heavens are about to stop real quick! Do NOT get it twisted.

And since I've been talking about him... Here's a sweet picture of baby Hudson. We have been introducing out playgym this week. He likes it in small increments.

Happy Tuesday!

jammies

After we get in from our day and eat dinner, we enjoy relaxing with Hudson and start our night time routine.

Currently our night time routine includes:

6:30ish- bath time. Hudson loves this!
7:00is- Dim the lights and start quieting down
7:00-8:15- Hudson cap naps bc he can't hold his eyes open
8:15-8:30- nurse mr Hudson and put him down in his crib (we are still swaddled as of now)

But before we try to calm things down, we like to have some fun time in our jammies.

Daddy tickling those toe-toes

Why do we have to stop to take these pictures?

The next couple of pictures are of him giggling

Standing is my new favorite thing!

Love spending time with my sweet family!
