Today is Hudson Lindley's 6 month birthday!
Happy half birthday sweet, angel boy. We love you!
I will get into his 6 months of life later...with pictures included.
Today, this post is about 6 months of breastfeeding.
Dear Breastfeeding (BF for short),
It has been 6 months since our journey has begun. I was very skeptical about you before Hudson was born. I kinda thought you grossed me out. Silly girl, I had NO clue. But after that angel was put on my chest, I knew me and you were going to get real close. And close we have gotten. You have allowed me to nourish my son for 6 whole months. He relies on me for your "liquid gold" and I love that!
But let me tell you, there were times I got frustrated and wanted to stop! I was really really not wanting to supplement and for Hudson to be exclusive drinking my milk. I have accomplished this task, and will continue for as long as I can. Don't think I haven't stressed myself, Hudson, and my husband out about it, though. I cherish every drop...literally! My mom spilled some of my milk once, and she now knows she can NEVER do that again!
I have a whole "store" built up in my freezer. Frozen "liquid gold." But for some reason, I hate to pull from this store. I like to open that freezer and see my hard work displayed. Yes, I know this sounds pyscho. But I worked hard for those baggies.
You have helped me lose all my baby weight and some! That's definitely another pro of doing the nursing thing. But, because of you, I eat like a horse. Like a 9 months pregnant- chubby kid, horse. This could be a problem in the future.
So, BF, lets still be friends. I will continue to drag my pump supplies and pump twice a day at work, if you continue to allow me to be "milky." Ha! Call me "milky", the cow.
Love, Kristin Lindley
Sorry for this random post about my milk. I want to be able to look back at all this when he's older.
On a serious note, I am glad I've made it this long (insert pat on my back), because it has taken work and serious dedication.
And I am fully aware that formula is a good option for some mothers. My child will eventually use formula. But, for now, we are sticking with the nursing. Never thought I'd be that mother, but I am.
Now, in 6 months, if I'm still talking about the joys of nursing....someone schedule an intervention because I've gone too far! Sweet Hudson doesn't need to come from playing in the yard and yank on my shirt. Enough will have to be enough at that point.
I am 6 months old today!
