use your words

I thought I would document the things Hudson can say these days. I have said since the beginning, Hudson is pretty much on time with all his milestones. Not really early, but not really late. Typical boy, I guess.
I used to worry about his language, but it really has improved since the tubes. And sometimes he covers his ears like the noise is too loud. I'm wondering if he just couldn't hear us before the surgery.
We try to practice our words daily and I try to slip in a new one if I can

Words Hudson can say:
Mama
Dad-dy
Birrrr (bird)
Guhh Guhh (Guss Guss)
Pap Pap
Dawwwh (dog)
Bye Bye
Poooh Poooh (Pooh Pooh)
Ki-ki my mom
Pup-py
Bub-baaah Brett
baaaah (ball)
He says a version of thank you, but I don't even know now to type-describe it

And he knows what these words mean, too! I can ask, "where's guss?" and he'll run up to him and point, "Guhh Guhh"
But he still does this annoying whiny thing when he wants something and can't get to it. And after a long day, those uhhhhh uhhhhh uhhhhhhs can get pretty old.
But he can't understand "use your words" yet. Bless his angel bones!
But I really think he understands what we say to him like 75% of the time. Simply commands or simple phrases, of course. It's nice to watch him learn.

As amazing as it is to watch his brain grow, that evil mommy guilt still finds it way in.
Am I doing enough to stimulate him? Am I playing enough with him? Does he play enough with other children? Does he need more activities?
I hate that mommy guilt. Part of me wants to just let him play and enjoy being a 16 month old, and part of me wants to buy some flashcards. Ha!
And I am trying to find more activities around the Jackson area for us to do during the week. Any stay home mommy friends out there can help? We are regulars of storytime, the children's museum, and the playground.

I will leave you with Hudson talking to the laundry room. Actually the vacuum in the laundry room. He gets pissed upset if that door is shut!

Happy Sunday!

its good to see the sun

Lately, the baby boy has been kinda fussy. With all the rain and coldness, its been too nasty to be outside. I thought Hudson was handling it well, until this last week. And man, has that boy been cray!
But I will officially blame it on cabin fever. Thank goodness for storytime at the library on Wednesdays. They have been our saving grace!

But now, we've been able to be outside a bit and this little boy has really perked up

If this picture is not a Joey Lindley smile, I don't know what is.
I begged asked Jess if she wanted on walk around Renaissance on Sunday. We had just had enough of inside play! So the boys ran around Barnes and Noble for awhile. Hudson did love that train table
And yesterday, we went to the children's museum with Amy Grace and JF.
Thanks Heather for the year pass idea. Since getting it at Christmas, we have gone like 5 times.

He's gone fishing
Doing alittle light cooking

And I had to show off my fabulous new necklace.
My very talented (and super cute pregnant) friend, Catherine Thoms, made it!
I had been looking for an initial necklace for awhile....and this is exactly what I wanted! Its got a cute, little bird clasp and a sapphire stone (Hudson and I's birthstone), and the obvious H.
LOVE IT!!!

And I will leave you with this funny video. I was out and daddy was watching Hudson. He sent me this and said "cruising the strip"

I love to see that sweet boy dance.
But let's notice a few things together:
-He's standing on his car dancing...and moving it back and forth
-He's standing and dancing right by the fireplace
-And notice daddy is filming this cute little show from other other side of the room

That Josie lets Hudson live on the wild side, I guess.
Happy Wednesday!

snow day

Yesterday, we got a BIG surprise when we woke up! Snow was everywhere. Hudson's first snow!
Now, I am one of those skeptics that don't believe the weatherman. He isn't always right, you know. So when he mentioned snow, I thought "fat chance"

But the snow did come and it was coming down pretty hard when Hudson woke up. So we bundled him up and went to take a look.
(and by bundled up, I mean a pair of pants over his footie pjs, a warm jacket, baby uggs and a hat. that's pretty much all we had to work with)

This picture pretty much sums up Hudson's attitude toward the snow
LOVE this face

After a while, he kinda got into it

Trying to hand me a snowflake. Bless his angel bones!

Sweet pictures of daddy and Joey

By about 12:00, the snow was gone and the sun was out. And we are so happy to see that sun!

And this was our view in the afternoon. Most of the snow was gone
Those boys love to wagon walk.

I'm sure we'll be spending lots of time in the cold sun...because it might not last long.

Happy weekend!
And Happy two weeks until hunting season is over. Can I get an A-men?

where's daddy?

I love playtime with my boys!
And the tent has become quite the source of entertainment these days. Its even daddy sized!

Maybe one day I won't be out numbered. But for now, I love my house with my boys!

girls weekend

Last weekend was one for the books!
Each year, we do our annual phi mu Christmas party. But the last 2 years, we have done it in January when most everyone has been able to come. This year was our biggest turnout yet!

The weekend started with a pj party sleepover at Lauren's house.
(I don't call her Lauren. I call her Hughes, but I couldn't figure out where to put the ' in that situation: Hughes's or Hughes')

I don't know why we haven't done pjs before...absolutely brilliant! And so comfy!

Ok, so we played this game called favorite things. We each brought 5 gifts under $5 (all the same) and drew 5 names. So we all went home with everyone's favorite goodies. Again, why didn't we do that sooner?
Jenny got Jamie's favorite teasing comb
Me and preggie Linds eating yummy pj cookies
Ok, and then it was craft time. We did the sock buns, thanks to Kayla.
I looked just like Kleo Kim Kardashian with this thing on my head!
But after about 10 cut up socks laying around my house, I couldn't replicate the look
Next group photo time.
Told you there were alot of us. The pictures are small, but if you click on it, you can get a better look of us in all our pj glory

Bear claw.
Apparently all the phi mu cool kids in Starkville are doing it now

And the obligatory laughing picture. I have one of these from every year since probably 2003
It was such a fun night!

Continuing with the phi mu weekend, Jamie and Justin had their first couple's shower on Saturday night
The happy couple and sweet Myers.
I think Justin likes taking pictures as much as Josie does.

I love a bridal solo shot. And so does Jamie!

I am so excited that my BFF is getting married in April!
The night ended kind of like a 7th grade party. The boys were outside by the fire and the girls were inside talking.
It was a great shower and she really racked up! I can't wait to continue the celebrations over the next few months!
All our sweet friends at the shower. One day, we'll figure out a way to pose without doing the sorority bend and snap
I have said this before, but these girls are truly my female soulmates. Everytime we get together, we just pick back up like no time has past!
From pledge class 2002, group discipline #teampippa in 2006, and now to marriage and babies....
Love you girls!

And one day, I will start taking better pictures (with my big daddy camera) again. These iphone pics just aren't cutting it!

Go to sleep

Hudson has been falling asleep in the weirdest ways lately.
Its like, when he gets tired, he will just lay his head down anywhere.
And the boy has always loved to cuddle. I will probably pay for it later, but if he wants to fall asleep on me, I let him. Then I put him in his crib. I just know that he won't always want to lay on me like that.

And he's wanting to sleep sitting up. Silly boy!

Like I said, I am not all about creating bad habits, but I just love his cuddles. When he is full speed ahead most of the day, its nice when he wants to wind down with his mommy.
I swear I will never forget these special moments with him!

since the new year...

Since the new year, we've been doing a bunch of nothing...except playing around with the little man.
It seems like its been doing alot of raining lately, and we've been trying to find fun, inside activities.

And getting a haircut. That hair was getting shaggy

And going to the children's museum. Kiki got us a year pass, we've already hit it up TWICE!

Of course, Hudson had to find the balls

Carson and Hudson climbing

Sweet poses!

Lunch at Newks
I also have started to see Hudson's little personality. When he's at home, he rules the roust. Runs around like a crazy person. But when he's with a big group of children (and those he really doesn't know), the Joey Lindley comes out of him. Meaning, he gets very shy and quiet.
Now, we all know that Joey pretty much lets me have the spotlight...and I love him for that! But he really does have a outgoing personality in the right setting. But around new and large crowds, he is a "sit back and watch" kinda guy. I can already see this personality trait forming in Hudson. I love to see pieces of sweet Joey in our son!

I'd also thought I'd share the Hudson's progress with the four wheeler.
The boy is scared to death of that thing! And daddy was so proud to buy it!

If I am right there, he will play with it and show interest.

Maybe even sit on it.

Climbing on it by himself

But if you even try to press the "go" button, he freaks out. The boy doesn't like those weird sounds
Side note: this picture was taken after his haircut. Needless to say, we headed back up there yesterday for an appropriate bang trim.
and is it appropriate to say bangs when referring to a boy?

Playing with daddy!
I adore family time with my boys!

That's all for now. One of my new years resolutions is to attempt to make this blog for exciting.
Epic fail from the first post of the year!
