Since I was trying to get a few decent shots of Hudson in his big brother shirt, I figured I would use them for his 20 month update! I feel like I should say "where has the time gone?" But now that I am with him everyday, time doesn't seem to go as fast....sometimes the hours drag on! Ha!
What's that quote, "The hours are long, but the years are short" That is perfectly fitting here!
Hudson is in a stage that he is either straight up fun or very grumpy/cranky. There is just no in between. And sometimes it changes at the drop of the hat.
But now that the backyard pool, hose, and water is involved; hopefully things will go much smoother. I'm really not complaining. I love being at home with him, but we have most definitely hitting that toddler phase. (end rant)
Hudson Lindley at 20 months:
- Still wearing the same size clothing and diapers (24 months and size 4)
- Become a very picky eater. Sometimes he will all that put in front of him, and sometimes he won't want anyone. One day he will eat 5 chicken nuggets and the next day he will hate them. And yes, he doesn't eat a lot of meat, so all white meat chicken nuggets are in our household!
The things I know he will eat are very limited these days: applesause, tootles (mickey) yogurt, goldfish, Scooby doo fruit snacks. Really?!? That is such a long list!
- Still only whole milk and water. Will introduce diluted juice when he turns 2.
- Can eat applesauce, yogurt and oatmeal with a spoon pretty much by himself. We are working on using a fork.
- LOVES mickey mouse or "too-teals" as he calls it. We now own mickey doll, plate, forks, utensils, DVDs, sippies and various phone apps. Everything is about mickey these days. When he wakes up in the morning, I hear him talking about "too-teals"
-Loves being outside. Playing with the waterhose and the swimming pool. He also likes big pools as long as there are steps. He likes to go up and down the steps in the pool. I need to get one of those arm floaties with the bar across them...this boy is a daredevil.
- Starting to show is daddy more attention, which makes Joey beam with excitement!
- New words: Mickey, bubbles, too-teals, weeeeh, juice, truck, teeth. (He says about 20 words). I really don't think his speech is where it needs to be, but i'm trying really hard not to freak worry about it. His comprehension is way more extensive than his speech. He knows exactly what we are talking about. I have read this is common, so I hope things will change when he starts MMO in the fall. Should I be worried?
- Can throw one heck of a tantrum. And his new thing is to pull my hair, hit and scratch me mid tantrum. I'm not going to lie, I have spanked him....kinda hard. I really don't like this phase.
- Sleeping is great these days. I don't think he will every be a 3-4 hour napper, but we are taking what we can get. That's all I'm going to say so I won't jinx it.
- He has started to not like riding in the car for extended amounts of time. This was never a problem before. So I'm ashamed to admit I've used mickey more than I should.
- Sometimes, he will run up to me and give me a little rub/scratch on my arm or leg. In a sweet way. He'll smile and then run off. It melts my heart!
- He needs a minute in the morning before he wants to really get going. He likes to hold his milk and contemplate his day.
- I can already tell he is so strong willed.
- Will give me a kiss when I ask for one...and most days, I ask a lot!
- He is such a big boy, but still my baby boy. I think my heart is confused about that.
Most days, he is such a joy to be around. I am so thankful to get to spend these times with him (the good and the bad.) And I know he will be such a good big brother to Lillian!
Love him to the moon and back!

Don't worry about his speech :). Mine probably said 10-15 words at 2 and most all his animal sounds. His pediatrician wasn't worried because he clearly comprehended what was said to him. He started speaking in 3-4 words sentences at 26 months and hasn't looked back!
