First, my friends Becky and Ben got married a few weeks ago. Their wedding was so much fun and they are a wonderful couple! Congrats Becky Eidt, we are so happy for you two!!!
Next, my one of my very best friends Jessica Bailey is getting married (yeh!)...and her wedding festivities have begun. Definately fun times ahead. Her wedding is May 16th in madison. This is a picture of her and her fiance, Derek.

Lastly, we finally got our puppy!!! RILEY is here. She is so so sweet and super cute, but I know that we will have our hands full with this one. We got her last night, and she has kept us very busy ever since. Today, we went to my parents lakehouse and took both Guss and the new addition. We got to hang out with my mom's side of the family. Of course, they loved her too...and were tickled by the way she would fall asleep at the drop of a hat. I could barely concentrate on the 70lbs of crawfish without worrying about Riley or Guss getting into something that they shouldn't...note to self: they are dogs, let them be dogs, they don't need to be watched like a hawk.
On a side note about the new pup, my first child Guss is not taking it too well. He doesn't quite understand that she is here to stay. Hopefully they will be BFF in no time. Also, i thought this was funny...last night (our first night with her), we put her in the kennel as far away from us as possible. I knew that she was going to cry, but Joey was convinced that she loved her kennel already and she would be ok. So in the middle of the night, we hear the screams (they were bad), and Joey actually asks if i thought Riley was trying to commit suicide in her kennel...REALLY JOEY? i had to wake myself up for that comment and laugh alittle. No, she was not trying to commit suicide, she was just scared of her first night away from her mom and brothers and sisters.
We are welcome to any suggestions/tips on puppy training a lab....we need all the advice we can get!
hope everyone has a very happy easter!!!

Hey girl - found your blog through others..and I must admit...I'm OBSESSED too with all things Twilight! books, movie, soundtrack, and I just finished reading the partial release of Midnight Sun...have you read it yet? It's from Edward's POV. So good!
ReplyDeleteGlad you started a blog - I do more reading/stalking that writing in my own...oh well!

she is sooooo cute! our lab didn't take too well to his crate when he was a puppy either...but it grew on him and he started actually preferring it when he was about 6mths old. and the one thing I know about potty training pups is to only let them outside through one door--that way they know where to go when they need to 'go'--but I'm sure you already knew that one from raising little Guss!
ReplyDeleteI'm a first time reader... your new puppy is adorable!
ReplyDeleteWe have a black lab who is almost a year old and he is a fantastic dog. He's only had one bad chewing "accident" (which seems to be rare with labs). Anytime he started to chew on something we didn't want him to we said "no!", gave him a toy and said "chew this." Worked like a charm. :-)
Enjoy the puppy! Labs defintely don't stay little for long... our "puppy" is 90lbs of muscle!
